Anna Bramwell-Dicks, University of York, will tell us about her work on the role of new technology, media and music in improving access, health and wellbeing.
About Anna
Anna has a long-standing interest in the role of new technologies, media and music in improving access, health and wellbeing. Anna started out by doing an undergraduate degree in Electronic Engineering with Music Technology Systems and became so fascinated by User-Centred Design and Psychology that she ended up doing a PhD focussing on the effect of music on transcription typing performance and experience. Anna has since done lots of work on accessibility and disability representation focused projects, including ‘Playable Bodies: Disability Representation in Immersive Media and Video Games’ and ‘SoundCeption: Multimodal Sensory Substitution’ (she’ll explain what this means!). Anna is the Subject Head of Creative Technologies & Senior Lecturer in Interactive Media at the School of Arts and Creative Technologies, University of York and is Chair of the International Federation of Information Processing Working Group 13.3 on Human-Computer Interaction, Disability and Aging.
