The word ideas.

What neurodivergent community projects would you like to see in York? Let us know by 21st July 2026.

In May, York CVS, on behalf of the Connecting Our Cities project, announced a small grants fund to support neurodivergence-related community projects in York.

The fund offered grants of up to £500 and £1,000. Applications were open to anyone with an idea for a community project, regardless of whether they had previous experience of delivering neurodivergence-related work. Applications have now closed, and funding decisions will be made by the end of July.

As part of the process, York CVS wanted the decision-making panel, which meets on 22nd July, to include people with lived experience of neurodivergence. One of YDRF’s steering group members, Samuel Robinson, has been invited to take part.

Samuel will be participating in an individual capacity rather than as a representative of York Disability Rights Forum. However, before joining the panel, he is keen to hear from other neurodivergent people in York about the kinds of community projects and activities they believe would make the biggest difference to their wellbeing, inclusion, and sense of belonging.

If you are neurodivergent and live in York, please share your thoughts with Samuel. What kinds of community projects, groups, activities, or support would you like to see funded? Your feedback will help inform Samuel’s thinking when considering which projects to advocate for during the panel discussions.

Please send your ideas by 21st July 2026 by emailing samuel@ydrf.org.uk.

To ensure the funding process remains fair and impartial, we ask that you do not respond if you have applied for one of these grants yourself or otherwise have a financial interest in the outcome. We are looking to hear from neurodivergent people who do not have a stake in the funding decisions, so that the feedback shared reflects the wider community’s priorities.
