RE: York Central Leeman Road York – Construction of a new pedestrian and cycle bridge with associated infrastructure following demolition of existing bridge

Thank you for alerting us to the revised plans for this bridge. The York Disability Rights Forum access group would like to make the following comments with regard the plans for the Wilton Rise Footbridge.

We are pleased to note that the applicants have now implemented design principles laid out in Local Transport Note 1/20 (Cycle Infrastructure Design) with regard to shared use facilities and the inclusion of soft segregation between cyclists and pedestrians. And we welcome the use of subtle surface texture changes or colour differentiation, as the bridge has 4m of usable space.

We would like to re-iterate our concern that there are too few landings and hope that you can find a workable solution to this. We would welcome the use of a double handrail.

Best wishes
