[Insert your address and the date] To Whom It May Concern, I have recently applied/reapplied (delete as applicable) for a Blue Badge on the grounds of [insert reason for eligibility]. In response I have been asked to attend a face to face meeting. I have been taking significant precautions to protect myself for over a year and do not feel it is appropriate to ask me to risk my health by attending an assessment. Further, I find it shocking that before attending I would need to sign a consent form, which is essentially a waiver for the Council removing any responsibility you have when it comes to Covid-19. My reasons for applying are not going to be apparent at an assessment and I cannot see that the risk to my health is warranted. (Delete if not applicable) The Equality Act 2010 says that reasonable adjustments should be made to make services accessible for disabled people. As such, I would expect the Council to make use of alternatives such as phone calls, Zoom calls or, given the extenuating circumstances, accepting evidence from GPs. Additionally, my human rights are potentially being impinged upon as I am expected both to risk my health by attending the assessment and my dignity is also affected because toilets will not be available de facto (delete if not relevant to you). If the application does not go ahead because I do not wish to risk my health, and I cannot get a Blue Badge then my independence and mobility will be restricted and my quality of life will be significantly impacted. As a disabled person, I wish to request a reasonable adjustment that allows me to be assessed remotely. Regards, [Insert name]
