At the end of the business part of the meeting (which we anticipate will take around 30 minutes), we’ll have a presentation and open discussion for 30-45 minutes on some really interesting recent research carried out by postgraduate students at the University of York on behalf of YDRF, City of York Council and North Yorkshire Police. It’s called ‘Stop Disability Hate: A Report on the Role of Third Parties in Addressing Under-Reported Hate Crime in York’ and work is underway by the York Hate Crime Partnership Group to bring about some change as a result. This is not an easy subject to think about but the findings suggest some interesting ways to tackle under-reported disability hate crime and incidents. We hope the discussion will suggest more and our YDRF reps on the York Hate Crime Partnership Group can feed those in too.
If you would like to nominate someone for the Steering Group, please either use the nominee form and return it to us, or you can nominate someone at the meeting itself, providing you have their permission.
After the talk, there’ll be time to get to know each other better, ask the Steering Group members anything and share any thoughts you have about YDRF.
The YDRF Steering Group.
