Give Your Old Devices a New Home This Christmas

If you’re getting a new device or bit of tech to replace last year’s stuff then why not donate it to York’s IT Reuse Scheme and give it a new lease of life, along with the opportunity for someone else in York to stay connected.

The Covid-19 pandemic has shone a spotlight on the inequalities in our society, front and centre of those has been digital exclusion. As we went into lockdown in March, 15,000 York residents were not online.

Access to the Internet is now an essential aspect of everyday living.  Lack of access to the online world is further disadvantaging those who already face the most challenges in life. Covid-19 restrictions have rapidly increased society’s reliance on the internet for almost all aspects of life, from food and services, to employment, education, and social support.

A coalition of local organisations are working to ensure all York residents who want to have the choice to stay connected by getting online by creating an IT Reuse Scheme.

Donate your devices

You can donate your devices to York Community Furniture Store, Unit 29/34A, The Raylor Centre, James Street, York, YO10 3SW – just behind Morrisons.

Devices should be in fully working order, or need only minor repairs.

  • tablets and smartphones
  • printers

  • adaptive equipment (eg. magnifiers, ergonomic mice, high-contrast keyboards)
