Website Launch

After lots of hard work tinkering with words, pictures and html, we’re really excited to announce the launch of our new website! We have a lovely new home on the web and hope that you find our content interesting and useful. Find us at ydrf.org.uk.

Our aim was to make a space that is open, welcoming and inclusive to as many people as possible. We’ve done our best to make sure we’ve included features throughout the site which make it accessible to people with a wide range of needs.

Accessibility: The most important feature of our website

On all pages of our site, you should find:

  • clear, straightforward language
  • headings and lists that help organise content and make it easy to follow
  • a good structure that can be navigated by screen reading software and/or by keyboard
  • pictures which are relevant to written content
  • alt text on all images
  • colours, images and fonts which have been chosen with clarity in mind

If there’s anything you think we’ve missed or there’s something you think we could be doing better, then please get in touch and let us know. We’re doing our best to learn and find out about how we can improve!

Our goals

Sign up to become a member or ally with the Forum

Member: York Disability Rights Forum is open to people over the age of 18 who live, work, or study in York and identify as disabled or as having a disability*.

*Please note, YDRF includes autism, ADHD, and other neurodivergence in our definition of disability, as the neurotypical society we live in is disabling for neurodivergent folks. There are of course other disabilities as well, and we do not require ‘proof’ of disablement to become a member of YDRF.

Ally: You can also choose to join the Forum as an ally if you would like to be involved but don’t identify as disabled or as having a disability.

Success! You're on the list.
